Baileys Ridge.

Purchased in July 2022, Baileys Ridge is a 35ha (87 acre) property located near Mount Cotton in the Redland Bay Council area. This is a magnificent property bordering a national park with running creeks and views of the Brisbane City Skyline and already has a resident koala calling the property home, her name is “Thelma”. The property is an approved Advanced Offset Site for SEQ Koala Habitat under Queensland’s Environmental Offset Regulation 2014.

What is an Advanced Offset?

An advanced offset is an area of land that has been registered by the Department of Environment and Science (DES) for potential use as an environmental offset in the future because it contains, or is capable of containing, one or more Matters of State Environmental Significance (MSES).

What are the benefits to proponents?

Proponents are encouraged to utilise advanced offsets as they provide a way to manage the risks associated with the time delay in finding a suitable offset site and achieving a conservation outcome for the impacted prescribed environmental matter.

The Redland Bay area is experiencing a lot of urban growth, and it has a large population of Koalas – we hope to partner with developers in the area who want to keep their offset plantings within the Redland Bay area to enable the local koala population to continue to thrive.
